Chasing colour, finding character

A few notes on light, colour, and finding a fresh perspective behind the lens.

A photograph often starts with a small detail: a reflection, an unexpected colour, or the way someone turns towards the light. Those details give a frame its character.

Start with the light

Before thinking about the perfect pose, take a moment to look around. Notice where the light falls and how it changes the mood. Leave room for the scene to surprise you.

Make room for the unexpected

A simple setting can hold plenty of possibility. Move closer, try another angle, and pay attention to the moments between the planned shots.
